Gifts and Ideas for a New Baby

Buying for a new baby is something you might be doing if you are expecting a baby yourself or it may be that you are looking for a gift for friends or family. What to buy for a new baby is a question which has a minefield of answers.  Practical or beautiful, your baby or someone else’s, something that you have been asked for or your own choice. When you have decided on an item you still have to choose the price, the type, where you get it from and the colour.

If you are expecting a baby, particularly if it’s your first and you are researching and deciding what to buy for a new baby,  you will need to consider things like, buggies and prams, travel wrap, car seats, cots, Mose’s baskets, bedding, clothing, nappies, wipes, bouncy chairs, baby baths, bottles, breast pumps, steamers, travel cot’s, changing bags, toys.  You also may need nursing bras, feed pillows, pyjamas, loose clothing, breast pads and other items for yourself when the baby is born.

Of course when you are looking around and deciding what to buy for a new baby as a gift you will be in a completely different situation, you might be buying a practical gift because you want to or because you have been asked for something specific, or you might be buying a beautiful gift like clothing or a lovely blanket .

I think a lovely idea for someone who has just had a new baby is to buy or make them some lovely food.  Quite often mums who have just had a baby need a lot of help and eating is something that gets pushed to one side, it can be very important especially if you are breast feeding or recovering from a difficult birth.

If you are a close family member instead of deciding what to buy for a new baby, it is great if you can offer to buy one of the pieces of equipment for the baby, as it can be very expensive to buy everything you need at once.  Another option is to buy second hand or see if anyone has anything they can give you or you can borrow.  Quite often if you know people who have had children they will offer you things that they no longer need. It can be a great way to save money and try things out before spending a lot of money

If you really can’t decide on what to buy for a new baby you always have the option of giving money
or vouchers or even investing some money for them to use for their future.  It’s a practical option, not very exciting but it might be a good idea if you don’t know the people so well or you are not sure what they might want or need.  It is normally something that people really appreciate and find valid for the future.

I have children myself and I write about products and tips which are useful to parents, they cover making life less fuss and more fun, saving time and getting out and about with young babies and children.  Some of my articles are interesting but they try to have a bit of fun and laughter about them.

What To Look For In A Good Value Buggy

Pink buggies always seems to be the choice of colour when families are lucky enough to have a baby girl. I wonder who first decided that pink should become the favourite colour for a girl and blue for a boy. Someone must have started that trend. I wonder when it first started too.

Consequently the most common colours for most items for babies are blue and pink.

When looking to buy a pink stroller, pushchair or pram, you will find a wide selection on the market. Plus, you can get a pink pushchair from major manufacturers such as Hauck, O’baby and antique Silver Cross.

Apart from the colour I think that the comfort and safety of your little one are the most important factors to consider when hunting for pink pushchairs. Then you look at the type of wheels, tyres and chassis.

The choice of tyre style will depend on the surface you normally push your prams over. If you constantly travel across fields or other rough ground, it may well be worthwhile to pay a little more for a better suspension and inflated tyres to make the ride smoother for baby.

To make life easier for mum, it is possible to get a stroller with wheels that turn a whole 360 degrees. This makes it easier to manoeuvre when pushing it around the aisles in the local supermarket or anywhere else for that matter.

More basic strollers just have static wheels but they are fine for normal everyday use as well. The number of actual wheels is more of a personal issue. The standard on most carriages is to have four but some have just 3. I must admit that it does not make any difference to me.

The chassis of the vast majority of buggies nowadays is strong enough to withstand the daily use that is expected of it. The people who build them know that they will be used an awful lot.

If you carry it in the back of your car or on public transport you should look at buggys which you can fold up quickly and without any problems. You will not miss the bus that way.

You can get various extras to help both mum and baby. A bag hanging there for shopping is useful for mum as are a rain cover and foot-muffs to keep the baby dry and warm. Sometimes these are included in the list price, another time you have to pay extra for them.

After reading this article you will be enable to ensure the health and safety of your baby as well as making using pink buggies an easier experience for you.

With the way that the economy is today I have had to become the money advice expert for our family and would like to share some ideas that I have found. These ideas vary from buying household items such as a pink hoodie and incorporate financial decisions such as the best way to find a mortgage.

Buying a Double Pushchair: A Consumer’s Guide

Parents have customarily had two choices when buying double strollers; those in which the child seats were one in front of the other and those in which the seats were positioned side to side. There is now another design which is a stroller for a single baby convertible into a double buggy.

There are advantages and disadvantages with each. Buggies with seats in the front and back are more narrow, and therefore easier to use when strolling down streets with lots of people, shops, dogs, etc.  However, these can be a little hard to steer, and the child in the back does not get much in the way of scenery. Strollers with seats next to one another tend to be easier to steer, however, going through doors with them, up and down narrow stairways, through a building, etc, can all prove a tad grueling.

There is also a design which is basically a single pushchair that converts to a double. The benefit is that you are only ever pushing as much stroller as you need. Also the front pulls down into a bassinet, which can help the little ones to sleep while you are out and about. These are not as heavy or unwieldy as the other alternatives. The disadvantage of this however, is that the second seat is sold separately, and there is no escaping the limited view of the backseat.

Across the different types of buggy you can choose from, there are a some additional things to look for. One would be wheel type and size. Generally speaking, the larger the wheel, the more comfortable the ride, though there can be tradeoffs with respect to taking turns. Also, the type of wheel will come into play if you plan to jog with the stroller.

You might also wish to assess how the buggies fold down, and weigh up whether or not you want a slip cover of some kind. Not all buggies fold down easily, and this can become a major sticking point if you plan to take the stroller in and out of the car, on aircraft, up and down stairs and so. The weight of the stroller should be taken into consideration. Some buggies are made with sturdy lightweight materials, while others trade off the additional weight for durability. There is no right or wrong, it is more a matter of making sure the aspects of the stroller fit your requirements.

Finally, it is worth thinking about accessories that often come with buggies, including cup holders, bag holders, umbrellas and so on. Most of these are sold separately, and in some cases, buying all the available accessories that attach can substantially increase the amount you pay. Many of these accessories are nice to have, but the cost can get out of hand quickly.

Also, with the drinking cup holder in particular, evaluate how these features will impact the passenger. Some strollers place the drinking cup holder in a place where the hot coffee can easily spill out on the baby’s head below.

If you’re looking for a great deal on a double pushchair for your child, the Double Buggy website features an extensive range of buggies from reputable manufacturers.
