You want the best for your baby, and that includes the rugs that infants touch when they play, crawl and sleep. A sheepskin rug is not only soft and comfortable, but also provides a sensory experience that helps baby to learn and grow. In addition, a lambskin baby rug helps you control the surface that baby is touching when visiting friends or relatives.

Encourage Sensory Input

Babies develop their understanding of the world through sensory input early on in life. This means that everything that an infant touches and feels with his tiny fingers and every household object that the baby comes into contact with provides an educational experience. When baby plays on a lambskin rug, not only is he on a soft, comfortable surface, but his brain is also busy absorbing the texture and feeling of the rug.

Control the Surface

If you buy a smaller-sized sheepskin rug – one that is approximately the size of an infant blanket – your baby will be able to take his rug wherever he goes. This guarantees that baby will always have a familiar play surface and a handy spot for an on-the-go nap! Also, if you’re in a place that may not be as clean as you’d like, you can be confident that baby’s delicate skin isn’t touching germ-filled surfaces.

Avoid Unnecessary Chemicals

Most parents would agree that keeping unnecessary chemicals away from baby is a top priority. Lambskin rugs are available that are chemical-free and hypoallergenic. Sheepskin rugs contain merino wool, a natural and organic substance. These are important benefits for an item that will be in constant contact with baby’s skin.

Be a Stylish Mom

Although baby’s comfort and security come first, parents also want to feel stylish and at the forefront of any trends. Buying your baby a lambskin baby rug accomplishes both goals! Lambskin rugs have a fun, casual look and are miles above a simple infant blanket in terms of style.

Your baby will love you for buying him a sheepskin rug! And you will love it, too, for the comfort, style and safety that it provides your baby.

I work from home writing articles on all sorts of things. A month ago, I bought a baby sheepskin rug for my nephew and he absolutely loves it!

Having a baby is certainly an exciting moment for parents. Everyone is preparing before the big day finally arrives. From pacifier, bottles, clothes, diapers, and actual nursery rooms. Part of the nursery are the bedding. It is crucial to choose the best bedding for the little ones since they are still adjusting to their outside world. With that, it is pertinent for parents to know the different things to consider in choosing the right bedding for their baby.

Crib is an important thing to consider in choosing the bedding. The size should be not too big nor too small for the baby to move around. In view of the fact that babies are always asleep and most of the times they are on the cradle, there is a tendency that they would be able to breathe in toxins. Remember to look for non-toxic materials. There are manufactured cribs that are colored with harmful paints that may cause harm to the baby.

Check the firmness of the mattress. Just like adult beds and mattresses, babies should also have right firmness. Based on statistics, SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome are common to babies who are sleeping on soft mattresses and bedding. In order to prevent SIDS it is advised by the doctors to use firm mattress with fitted sheets in newborns and young children.

Organic materials are always better. When picking baby linens and bedding choose 100% chemical free material. It is very important that sheets, blankets, sleeping bags and pillows are made from organic materials because these bedding will naturally come in contact with the baby’s delicate skin. This is an important factor to consider since the immune system of babies are still immature and vulnerable.

Even though cotton is the most frequently used materials for fabrics, other organic materials can also be utilized. However, most parents prefer cotton fabrics because they are breathable and they can help maintain the normal body temperature of the baby. Layering is also easy with cotton fabrics. However, if the room temperature is too cold, acrylic cellular blankets are advisable to use rather than cotton.

Make sure that baby bedding are all washable and easy to maintain.

Take into consideration the colors and designs of the bedding. The choice of colors are still dependent to the preference of parents. This may be the last thing to be considered when choosing your baby’s bedding, but you also need to keep in mind that babies are easily attracted to colors. Research has shown that colors and designs may affect your baby psychologically. Therefore it is important that you choose the right color and design of bedding that are not violent.

Infants are very delicate and should be very well taken care of. At this stage, they will be mainly sleeping that is why it is important to choose the right bedding for them to use. Take into consideration the above factors before buying baby bedding to make sure that your child is comfortable and safe while he or she sleeps.

Types Of Convertible Car Seats

Every child safety seats are made and manufactured using the same process, but for children of different sizes and ages there are different types of seats  with specific guidelines as to how they should be used.

Infant seats – From the time a child is born, they must always ride in an infant seat which is most well known as a rear-facing convertible seat. These seats are designed for a baby that is under twenty pounds and should always remain facing the rear of a vehicle. Seats made specifically for infants are the smallest and have carrying handles for easy carrying and loading. They can be used until the infant is up to 10 through 14.5 kg (22 to 23 lbs.) depending on the instructions specified on each individual model. Many infant car seat models can also be used with strollers. Among the NHTSA’s choices for easiest to use infant car seats are: Baby Trend Latch Loc, Evenflo Discovery, Graco Snug Ride, Peg-Perego Primo Viaggio.
Convertible seats – A convertible seat is a child safety restraint that is suggested for the use in the same age and weight range, they are just generally more bulky and can be converted to forward facing child seats as the child grows. Toddlers and pre-school aged children also are to use convertible seats. It is recommended that the child remains facing the rear of the vehicle as long as possible. The American Academy of Pediatrics recently started recommending to begin front-facing at the age of two. Children should ride in a convertible seat with a harness until they outgrow it around the age of four, or weigh at least 29.5 kg (65 lbs.). Among the NHTSA’s choices for easiest to use convertible car seats are: Britax Advantage, Evenflo Tribute, and Graco Comfort Sport
Booster seats – Children over 1.2 metres (4 feet) in height and between the ages of eight and twelve now upgrade to booster seats. These seats are also front facing and are designed to raise children up so that the belts made for adults fit properly. By this age and size, the child has completely outgrown any rear-facing seat. From the height of 1.4 metres (4 feet 9 inches) and the ages of eight to twelve, children may have outgrown their booster seats and can be permitted to use regular adult seat restraints. It is suggested that, until the age of thirteen, the child remains in the back seat. Among the NHTSA’s choices for easiest to use booster car seats are: Cosco Auto Booster, Evenflo Sightseer, Graco Turbo Booster HB and Safety First.

My Personal Review OnLorex LIVE snap Video Baby Monitor Add-On Camera

No perfect baby Monitor We’ve had this monitor for about 48 hours and now wanted to give our first impressions quickly.

First, you had a summer infant video monitor with our first child two years ago. We were not happy with it. The sound was not great and the video at the end she left after a year of use. With our second child we decided to have another baby video monitor and sought support more than one camera. Say it is not a baby monitor video quality out there that I found. I’ll start with the pros.

Pros: – Video quality is as good as their peers. Do not go, but serves its purpose. For the night has a pretty good range and is more than enough. – Little interference. We have cell phones, Wi-Fi, cordless phones, baby monitor audio and many other wireless devices and have not had any interference. – Time interval. Pretty good. We had the camera in front of the house and were able to get a signal in the back. It was probably 35 feet away and was 4-5 at the half walls. – Usability. The buttons are well established and intuitive. We like the form factor – something like a cell phone from the old school candy bar style. – Two-way communication. It works when you can get the ‘up’ for work (see cons).

Cons: – Build quality is mediocre. The plastic is a bit cheaper. The buttons are not responding. The menu button and up / talk “take several attempts to activate. It is as if the plastic buttons are not aligned properly. It may take 4-5 attempts to activate the menu sometimes. Very annoying. When you browse the menu button works fine but the top button works erratically. I often end up scrolling through the list using the button below. The other buttons, 1-4, left / right, power does not seem to have a problem and it can only be this particular unit. It makes me wonder if we’ll have a full year of use out of the screen before it goes belly up, however. – VOX does not work. The monitor has a setting called VOX only turn on the monitor after it detects a noise. It does not work in ours. We have energy saving as the instructions indicate. We put in an empty room (ie, quiet) and became the VOX of their lower sensitivity (highest to noise required to activate) and only cycles off almost immediately. Only cycles on / off continuously. When set to the higher sensitivity we see no difference. VOX turned off and we just use the energy saving function (the video turns off after a predetermined time period.) – Audio. All right. Without VOX is a constant buzz light because the audio is always on. There can be super strong either (not a big deal for us). No interference in the audio is a plus, however. He is placed in the back of the unit. When you do not have the receiver in the cradle, the speaker can be turned off when placed. Will not stand in the end, so the monitor is set down on the loudspeaker or on the LCD. – Cot. The cradle is a bit annoying. The base has a male end of a mini-USB that connects to the unit of payment. The drive slot to slide in the support is not very tight so it takes a little finesse to get the mini-usb to align the unit. No big deal, but is not as easy as we would like when checking the monitor late at night.

The monitor is fine. Not good. I wish there was a video monitor that is high quality. I would definitely pay for a pass instead of a new one every year.

Finding the Right Baby Crib

Finding the right baby furniture is often a difficult task for parents to perform and baby cribs are no exception. Indeed, a lot of attention must be paid in choosing the right furniture for a newly born or an infant, which should not only fit well in the baby’s nursery room, but also should be safe and comfortable for the baby. Presently, there is a huge variety of baby cribs available in the market, ranging from cheap to designer ones, suiting every individual need. However, there are certain things to be kept in mind, in order to find the right baby cribs.

Assess your child’s needs and decide on what type of a crib you want. This is important because without this crucial information you will not be able to choose the right one from a wide range of designs available in the market. See what will be most appropriate for your child and beneficial for you. Do your research and see what designs are safe and durable. You can go for a traditional rectangular crib, or a round one to avoid your baby getting hit from the edges. Also, check out the features and see if the crib comes with some pre-installed items. This will save you some money in buying toys for your baby, and will also keep him/her busy when you are not around.
Know your budget. A deciding factor that will help you in finding the right crib is your budget. Luckily, with different brands and wide range of baby cribs available, there is something to suit every pocket. Explore baby stores and find the crib that is affordable for you. Also, look out for discounts and sale items in many shops that you can avail and save money. Go for items in a clearance sale, if you are on a tight budget. Though, if you want to save money in the long run, then get your hands on a convertible baby crib that you can use as a bed later when your child grows up. These convertible cribs are relatively a bit more expensive than the normal ones, but have more durability and utility too. So if functionality is something you are looking for, then a convertible baby crib is what you need.
Check the size of your nursery. One thing that parents often ignore and don’t pay much attention to is the size of the baby’s room in their homes. They first buy a baby crib and then try to fit it in the baby’s room, while the opposite approach needs to be followed. As cribs come in different styles and sizes, it is important to consider the size of your nursery or room where you will put it, before making the purchase. Visualize the size of the crib in the nursery, or else get the actual measurements of the crib and see if it fits well. Make sure that it does not clutter the room nor does it occupy much space for you to move around.
Go for trusted brands. This is because your child’s safety depends on it. Baby cribs that are manufactured by trusted brands have better quality and standards that are important to ensure your child’s protection. Plus, some of these brands are affordable too.

Baby cribs are important because they provide a caring environment to your baby when she/he is not in your arms. Hence, choose the right one, while keeping the things said earlier in mind.

Air Fresheners and Your Baby

For all their cuteness, babies can be great stinkers. Sometimes the nursery is not the best-smelling place in the house because of all the pooping and peeing they do.

Some parents opt for air-fresheners in plug-in and spray forms, candles and the like. Unfortunately, these products are not safe for infants.

According to Dr. Stanley Fineman, an allergist at Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic, “[Air fresheners] emit volatile organic compounds and have been associated with increased incidence of respiratory problems and asthma in children living in homes with these products,” he says.

Some products that claim to be organic may not as safe for babies as they claim to be. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), do not be fooled by the term “organic” on product labels. Volatile organic compounds or VOCs include a variety of chemicals that are released as gases from certain solids or liquids. Some of these may cause long term and short term health problems for babies. Also, the EPA adds, “Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to 10 times higher) than outdoors.” And parents who only wish to make their homes smell fresher (which we associate with cleanliness) are adding to the high concentration of VOCs inside their homes. “Volatile organic compounds are found in most of the commonly used home air fresheners and deodorizers,” Dr. Fineman says. “These can cause irritation of the lining of the respiratory passages. This is a particular problem for infants who have fragile, developing airways.”

What’s more, many household products are not required to list down their ingredients; meaning there might be ingredients that could be harmful to your child. Up to 90 percent of fragrances are synthesized from petroleum, not from natural sources, says Christine Robinsons, a San Diego environmental hygienist. Some harmful chemicals found in fragranced products include acetone, benzene, phenol, toluene, benzyl acetate and limonene. And though they come in levels below recognized exposure limits, their combinations can create symptoms that cannot be easily identified.

Healthy Freshening Alternatives

As “green homes” become more and more popular, parents are becoming more adept at freshening up their homes without harmful chemicals.

Some parents use essential oils to keep their babies’ rooms smelling good. You can put essential oil in a small jar with a terra cotta lid and a dip stick. The terra cotta absorbs the essential oil and releases the nice scent into the room. When it gets really smelly you can use an essential oil freshener. Add a few drops of essential oil in a spray bottle filled with distilled water and spray the mixture in your child’s room.

Robinson also recommends getting to the source of the stink. “Odors can be indicators that there is a problem that warrants investigation,” she says. “There is nothing wrong with enjoying the calming scent of lavender, but not if it’s covering up symptoms of a potentially harmful problem that can be easily corrected.” She recommends using products that absorb odor instead of artificial fragrances that mask it.

My Personal Review OnSummer Infant Baby Touch Digital Color Video Monitor

Great Features, Best Video needs For the past year, I had the Summer Infant Day & Night Video Monitor and the video quality is perfect (of course). A couple of months, the volume does not work at certain levels and the sound began to have more static, which distracted during sleep for me.

We started looking at digital monitors (as I heard that never get the “static” sound). We went to the BabyTouch Summer Infant. From the beginning we were in love with the elegant look and all the features. Everything works fine … but the video quality. If this is the video monitor first, you’ll probably love this (which has nothing to compare with). If you have had excellent video quality before and are turning to the video monitor, that will be noticeable to you.

The video is grainy and the movement is a bit choppy (think gas station video sequences). You can still hear the baby and what is happening, but just not as crystal clear as the image of the sample box. I did customer service at Summer Infant and was very impressed with your help. They made some suggestions and was very friendly and helpful, but their suggestions do not help at all.

The characteristics of this monitor than the video quality bad, so we decided to keep this monitor (which also were exchanged in our local store to see if there was a difference in them … there was).

Pros – - Easy to navigate (sound, pan, zoom, etc. ..) – Great Sound – Large Tray – Talk feature – Docking station (easy to load and instead of having to find the cable to connect and load) – Touch Screen

Cons – - Lame zoom (but all the video monitors that zoom – skips directly to a closer view) – The “talk” button next to the button on and off. You have to keep the power button for 4 seconds and the Talk button must be pressed (like a walkie talkie) to be heard. I accidentally pressed the Talk button when I thought I was on / off the monitor and was talking about (my son wake up). Not the end of the world, but only a suggestion to the company to change the location of this button (the same size as the on / off too). – The video quality is a big disappointment

Tips On Cleaning Your Car Seat

There are a number of some things parents will have to purchase once they are expecting their first kid. They are going to have to obtain a crib for them to sleep inside of, diapers for them to wear, and naturally they should have a consistent car seat. In the end this can be what will protect them once they are within the car with you as you drive.

Parents will often spend hundreds of dollars for a seat that will be the safest they are able to afford and which will be practical for them to make use of when using the stroller or in the car. After getting used for a month or two you can find that they have quickly become filthy. That is almost definitely due by the vomit, spit up, and urine that’s continuously spewing out of your baby.

It is crucial that you clean this up the instant that your youngster lets it out. However, there might be some that’s left behind or an aroma you cannot seem to get rid of. To keep the seat looking like new and to keep the bugs away it is imperative you endeavor to clean this out at the very least once a month.

Take away the cushion on the seat. This will be the toughest part for a lot of of you. When I first did this it took me nearly four hours to get rid of it. I like to recommend you utilize the manual that it came with and thoroughly follow the information. Remember just how you got it off because it’s harder to put it back on.

After you have taken it off throw it inside the washer machine. Guantee that your youngster do not have a response to whatever you may be using. Dry it in the machine or air dry in case you are afraid of it shrinking.

When the infant seat cover is being washed and dried you should clean off the plastic end of it all. Make use of a antiseptic or mild soap to clean it all off. Clean away the trapped on milk or vomit. Make certain to rinse it and dry it before you set the cover back on it. Now your youngster shall be safe to utilize it again without the need to stress about it at all.

Infant Car Seat Covers are always great to have to protect your kids. Learn how to put it on and how to Clean Car Seats so they look great.

A Bedtime Routine For Your Baby

And when you attempt to settle down your baby in a new place, the routine will ease the baby. Some ideas you can involve in arranging the routine of the baby are giving your baby a bath, helping him to get into pyjamas, telling tales, or playing a game. Select activities that ease the mind instead of the ones that excite the mind, because they might help your baby to drop off to sleep quicker. Maintaining a tally of a baby by following a bedtime routine is advantageous to both the elders and the baby. Following are one or two ideas worth a try : on occasions you need to permit the baby to let his stored energy to flee before you settle him down. When the excitement is done with, change into an activity that’s quieting and relaxing.

Follow this just when your small one goes to sleep easily during bedtime, or it may be too much excitement for him. Bath is a bedtime routine that’s relaxing.

A warm bath cleans the baby and makes him relax. You can try an aromatherapy bath by putting some scented lavender oil into the warm water. But on the other hand if you see that your baby can’t adjust with a bath at night and feels uncomfortable and can’t nod off, then it might be prudent to strike it out from the list of bedtime routines. One of the most renowned bedtime routine that most all elders do is reading stories to the baby at night. Singing is another idea.

Sing a popular song and let the method grow into a convention in your circle of relatives. By and by your baby will understand that when the song ends its time for him to get some shut-eye. On the way to the bed, bid good night to inanimate objects in the house like favourite toys and other items. You may also include pets and other family members this way your baby will get familiarised with the numerous things in the house and would start to understand and identify things by their names. A large number of other activities may be included in your bedtime routine. Pamper yourself and the baby with the fun strategies and let them be a superb time for the pair of you.

During the past 20 years the field of Domestic adoption has moved from a strictly closed process to a variety of fluid adoption models. Birth mothers and adoptive families are offered choices as to what future contact will be acceptable to both parties. Will they have an open, semi open, closed or semi closed adoption plan, and will there be flexibility for change as time goes by?

Why was domestic adoption revamped? The main intention was to lessen the myriad of emotional issues endured by all members of the closed model. Within this discussion we will refer to the “adoption triad” which is the inclusive term for the birth parents, the adopted child and the adoptive parents.

Within the completely closed adoption model, secrets were kept and many life circumstances remained unresolved. The reality that secrets can make life more difficult for humans was not an unknown awareness. However, with birth parents facing shame, judgments and minimal advocacy for their rights, the simple solution was to conceal the source and move on with a new reality for their child.

Adult adoptees faced closed doors and many legal barriers when deciding to search for answers regarding their biological families. If they were successful in breaking through and finding answers, many times they faced uncomfortable situations with birth mothers who had no idea the child she placed so many years ago would be reappearing without any notice. Birth mothers had begun new lives and tried to heal old wounds by closing the doors to their pasts. In many cases, they were not able to welcome their birth children back into their lives, resulting in all both members of the triad being forced to experience a new pain they had not expected. The adult adoptees that searched faced a form of rejection and became the victims of a system that didn’t work in their best interest. Adoptive parents witnessed their children facing closed doors, and pain.

Adoptive parents had created their families with hopes that their children would have no need to search for their birth parents, because they were so loved and cherished. In fact, some children were never told they were adopted. Many of these children felt their desire to even ask questions about their roots would be perceived as disloyal, purporting a lack of gratitude for the life they had been given.

Today’s domestic adoptions continue to evolve and change as unique agreements are designed between birth parents and adoptive families. When working with all members of the adoption triad, our agency’s ultimate goal is to consider what is in the best interest of the child. The adoption professionals providing services to our families, biological and adoptive, take seriously their responsibilities to address the desires of all parties involved in the placement. We present options while taking into account preferences of both sides throughout the adoption process. It is our intent to honor the circumstances of all our families and to understand the issues they are facing, as well as, what might surface in the future.

All parties come to the adoption process having endured loss, through a variety of painful emotional experiences, which require letting go and an acceptance of their life circumstances. The choice to place your unborn child for adoption is an unselfish, excruciatingly difficult decision for a birth parent which ultimately results in loss. Most adoptive parents come to the process after enduring the loss of their natural born right to conceive a child. All members of this process, eventually, are basing their decisions on what is in the best interest of the unborn child. In most circumstances, the unborn child is raised in a loving family system that is thrilled to be blessed by the amazing miracle of adoption. However, that adopted child has legitimately experienced a loss, as well, of their biological family.

The advent of open adoption was created by adoption professionals to alleviate some of the pain that results from these losses through more flexible adoption models. Each adoption is unique. The term open adoption encompasses a variety of permutations created through the collaboration of the adoption triad and the professionals who assist them. The future will tell us if we have succeeded.
